Pine Tree Solid Waste Facility

The new solid waste transfer facility and storage building was constructed on 81 acres in southern New Castle County as a second refuse sorting and transfer facility to move bulk trash from the southern Delaware area to the Cherry Island land fill.  Because of its proximity to a major road, Breckstone Architecture gave great attention to the visual qualities of this utilitarian facility.  Site planning took special care to protect extensive fresh water wetlands.  Breckstone Architecture provided not only engineering and architecture for this $7 million project.
